Shakespeare Assessment
The Shakespeare Project was composed of a poetry conversion, a poster, an Iambic Pentameter, and a play. We looked at some of the symbolism behind shakespeare. The play itself can be interpreted as a portrayal of how easily the things we feel to be most stable can be shifted, such as love, loyalty, and hatred. These things can just as easily fade away, as with the hatred of Demetrius towards Helena.
I feel like this project really spoke to my more artistic side. I really enjoyed reading shakespeare and analyzing what was written. I think my best moment was when I finished the playbill, it felt very good to finally be done with it.
This project was fairly difficult. I think that the most challenging part was memorizing the lines. I couldn’t really do a sufficient job on such short notice. I think that the hardest moment was when I forgot my most important speech which I had perfectly memorized before the play.
Throughout this project, I’ve learned that I often bite off more than I can chew. I actually had a small nervous breakdown near the end of the project. Most importantly I need to stay calm and choose only one more time-intensive project at a time.
I think that Shakespeare is still very relevant to our world. He focuses less on specific events and more on human emotions and society in general. That combined with the deep symbolism involved in shakespeare makes his works interesting and relatable even by today’s standards.
