I chose Animas because, in my mind, there is no other viable option. Animas encourages a higher level of learning then I could never hope to achieve other schools in the area.. I got a taste of project based learning at Mountain Middle School, and that was when I promised myself not to go back to traditional schooling.
Another reason I chose Animas was the culture. Everyone is friendly, and I enjoy the company of all of my classmates and teachers. I’ve already grown close with my teachers. My teachers and I have been through a lot, everything from exhibitions and essays to putting pressure on the cut to stop the bleeding( one of the dangers of project work time ).
The most important reason Animas was appealing to me, was my experiences during a shadow day. It was one of my favorite days of middle school, and will always be a good memory in my mind. This is one of the reasons I’ve become an ambassador, so I can convey these ideals of Animas High School to others, and incorporate the community of AHS, and the lessons I’ve learned, into the rest of my life. I chose Animas, because I knew that at Animas, I could spread my osprey wings and fly.
