This was a really powerful experience for me. Working at GitPrime brought some new perspective into my career. I felt like I was part of a team at GitPrime, which was something I realized is critical to me feeling happy/comfortable at any workplace. I have already begun to implement this mindset in my future plans. Additionally, working at GitPrime for LINK lead to a summer arrangement. I'm really excited to continue working at GitPrime, and I can't wait to see what else I'll be able to take away from this wonderful experience. I feel extremely lucky to have had the support of Animas during this venture. Having their resources at my disposal was immensely useful and refreshing from struggling on my own.
Whoops! It's the end of week two, but I'm currently posting about week one. I've been very busy, and have been conferencing with Travis usually at least once every day. I've also begun interacting with other members of the GitPrime team! I'm really excited about this, and I'm having a blast! In fact, I forgot it was Friday, which is something I never do! I am happy that my career path is something enjoyable to me, and this experience is already further reinforcing my inclination to go into software development as a career. This week was really amazing, eye-opening, and altogether awesome.
Whoops, forgot to post this yesterday! I was surprised to find that I was the only one around yesterday morning. I quickly learned that Travis and the other on-site employees are currently at YCombinator in California. Unfortunately for me, this means that Travis won't be here for the rest of the month! However, I'm still enjoying working remotely with Travis, and I already feel like this is a valuable experience for me. The worst part of the day however, was that I was forced to take a selfie, a practice which I despise. So here's your selfie. I hope you're happy Janae.
I’m really excited to do my LINK Internship at a software development company called GitPrime. They develop graphing software for source control. They're not hugely involved in the Durango community, but do operate out of a co-working space in town. My mentor, Travis Kimmel, is the CEO of GitPrime. I really hope he can teach me something about data analysis and business. In terms of career goals, I'm really excited to get more experience working in the field. Hopefully this experience will be helpful for me!
I reached out to five different companies, ranging from California to Berlin. I find it interesting that in the end my internship was right here. I also contacted my friend in Washington DC, who works for a security firm contracted by the government, but unfortunately his company didn't allow interns. Overall, I'm really happy with the internship I found. |
